Fruitful Bounty

Vivid Hues in a Classical Setting

Fruitful Bounty is an 8 x 24 inch oil painting, presented in a floating frame.

The Story Behind the Painting

This composition grew out of a collaborative project involving approximately 50 LGBTQ artists in the San Diego area. Each artist was assigned a single word to interpret visually for a large-scale word-cloud installation originally intended for the new terminal at San Diego International Airport. The finished panels now reside permanently at the North County LGBTQ Center in Oceanside.

My assigned word was SHINE.

Because I primarily work in still life, I designed each letter as if it were a window into a larger composition built around reflective and luminous surfaces: a silver pedestal bowl, glossy fruit, and light catching in folds of saturated blue fabric.

In the final installation, the word SHINE is subtle—nearly hidden among larger mirrored words. That sense of discovery appealed to me. After completing the letter panels, I felt compelled to paint the full still life that inspired them.

Fruitful Bounty is that painting.

This piece would be especially at home with collectors who appreciate traditional still life rendered with contemporary color intensity.
